Pele's Musical Stylings

I finally got around to getting Once In a Lifetime on NetFlix. I saw the movie when ESPN aired it a couple of months ago, but I'd been itching to see what kind of extras the DVD had. Besides extended highlights of three Cosmos games (and the oh so good commentary of Jim McKay), including Pele's farewell match, the best part of the extra features section is the deleted scene. It has to do with something called the Pele Cup, and I won't get into it here and ruin it for you if you decide to rent the movie. Suffice it to say it pretty much wraps up, in a nutshell, how half-assed the NASL was back then.

And of course, the best quote from the movie remains, and always will be, this nugget from coach Gordon Bradley: "Talks a lot, and half of it's not worth listening to. The other half I wouldn't listen to either." I'll let you guess what d-bag he's referring to.

Barca's game against 'Nastic is also a Catalan derby, which will hopefully go better than the last one (against Espanyol). No doubt the third team in Catalunya will be fired up for this - apparently they hate Barca almost as much as the royalists from the other side of Barcelona do. Almost.
