Oh Argentina, Not You Again

Just when you thought that the mess that is Argentine club soccer couldn't get any worse, here you go. I can now say that I've seen just about everything during this Apertura season. These actions by Racing Club And San Lorenzo fans comes on the heels of the country's FA handing down a ruling that would prohibit away fans from traveling to see their teams play. When is someone down there going to get some balls and start punishing the clubs for the actions of their supporters?

Today, at last, the FA president, Julio Grondona, fronted the idea that teams should lose points if they don't play or if their game doesn't go the full 90 minutes. Stay tuned, it can only get better from here.

On the pitch, Boca Juniors and Estudiantes de La Plata both won 2-1 away from home. That leaves Boca three points clear at the top over Estudiantes. With three games left to play, Ricardo La Volpe's men control their own destiny. They host Colon de Santa Fe next Sunday while Diego Simeone's team welcome Racing Club to La Plata.

Nice blog man. I am an Argie in the UK and of course love soccer.

The current tournament in Argentina is such a joke: suspended matches, death threats, match-fixing, and so many more. It's gonna take long to clean this mess up.

You may wanna check out my blog about Belgrano de Cordoba:

Thanks for checking us out Doc, I'm in full agreement with you. I'm a little leary about this weekend's matches. The way things have been going, I expect a couple of stabbings/ shootings.

I'll give your site a look tonight, thanks for the link.
