Plenty Left In These Old Bones

Racing Lens coach Guy Roux is set to take the French National Olympic Committee to court after being refused a professional coaching license on the grounds that he is three years over the age limit of 65. The case has elicited reactions throughout country, with even new president Nicolas Sarkozy offering his support.

Public opinion is firmly behind Roux, and with European law forbidding age discrimination, the verdict is sure to be overturned. The fact that Sarkozy's government is in favor of raising the retirement age should help as well. But if the appeal doesn't go Roux's way, Lens has indicated a willingness to take the case to civil court.

Just what FIFA loves most.
