Setting An Example

In a small mid-western town, if a high school student gets an F, he's off the team for twenty days. Not a bad little rule when you take into account that:
Fewer than 17 states maintain any kind of athletic eligibility to begin with, according to the Education Commission of the States in Denver. Of those, Arizona, Ohio, and now Iowa are the only ones with a "one F and you're benched rule."
I'm all for kids going to soccer clubs at an early age, but what's the real ratio of kids who want to turn pro versus kids who actually make it? I doubt high enough to skate by with an F and still play sports at school.
