Not to dwell to much on what's been going on in LA and Madrid, but I have to say: Nicely played Anschutz Entertainment Group. Why not get the most annoying guy in Hollywood to MC today's David Beckham's press conference. I guess Billy Bush had a previous engagement.
This little bit of business reminds me of why I like Pat O'Brien so much (click on that at your on risk). What are the odds that The Insider has dibs on the ex-England captain's first interview when he makes it over from Madrid?
Either way, you've got to admit that if anybody can pull this off, it's going to be Beckham and AEG. The conglomerate is more than capable of promoting, cross-promoting, and cross-selling Becks throughout the entertainment industry. And really, isn't that what it's all about?
After making this deal happen, do you think that AEG's other soccer teams are getting in line and waiting for a star to enter their starting XI? I can only imagine what's going through the minds of Chicago, Houston, and, to a lesser extent, Chivas USA supporters.
