"I don't want to do anything by halves"

After 135 Bundesliga appearances, 36 German caps, and numerous fitness and psychological problems, Sebastian Deisler has announced his retirement at the age of 27. Pointing to nagging problems with his right knee, the result of five operations, Deisler said that he just couldn't rely on it anymore.

At today's press conference, Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness said that he would not close the door on the German midfielder: "If he feels in condition at some time in the future he can always come back." Deisler's contract, which expires in June, will therefore for suspended.
