The Grab: 11.30.2006

YouTube has to be one of the greatest things to grace our screens in the past few years. Normally, I'd be bitter about a bunch of dudes cashing in tremendously within the confines of Silicon Valley, but it's revolutionized not only the Web, but us blogging dorks who liberally steal from YouTube in order to advance our convoluted opinions.

How many times have you watched Zizou's headbutt on Materazzi, usually with some sort of worse-than-crap Limp Bizkit track or shit rap tune with incomprehensible lyrics?

And how many of you loved the fact that you were able to do so? There's nothing like watching a brilliantly
taken strike or run of play with exuberant commentary in almost any language but English. Robin van Persie's free kicks are just more exciting when commentated in Arabic.

Anyway, one of our favorite columnists, Rob Smyth from The Fiver, lays out some classic clips that many of us have never seen, so now we can finally put a bearded, framed-by-a 70's perm-face to the lofty names we've come to know. Enjoy.

It's a shame that the FA has chosen to charge Captain Three Lions for claiming the myopic Graham Poll gave him conflicting reasons for issuing his second yellow against the defender in the Blues' loss to Spurs at the beginning of November.

Does anyone else think this is ridiculous? It's unfortunate that the FA doesn't hold jurisdiction over the entire world, because I haven't heard anyone talk of Poll without slagging him off. And this is even before his fiasco of issuing three yellows on one player in the World Cup. He was an ass before that, if you ask me, and nearly anyone that appreciates refs who do their job well (in other words, anyone that isn't a fan of Uriah Rennie) would agree.

Strangely, for as much criticism as the guy receives, he's rated quite well. I'm trying to think of individual incidents of why I think Poll's a egotistical twit, but can only think of Arsenal games and I don't want to muddy my dislike of the man with any sort of bias. And guess who's working the Gunners-Spurs match on Saturday? If you have any examples, give us a shout in the comments. [BBC Sport, 4theGame]

Remember Paris St-Germain ? A little club in the French capital that used to own one buck-toothed Ronaldinho in his youth? They're that other club that used to be worth knowing about, next to Olympique Marsielle and Olympique Lyon.

Maybe PSG should add an "Olympique" (or a new midfield and some strikers) too. Perhaps it'll bring them up from the bottom of Ligue 1. Honestly, 13th place suits them, and matters only get worse with a bit of a snafu from the gendarmes that ended up in a fan death (Mon Dieu, one less anti-Semite in this world).

Apparently the Boulogne Boys are attempting to recreate the glory days of Italy's ultras with some good old fashioned racism and violence. More importantly, it's good to know the Gallic coppers pack heat to matches. [UEFA, NY Times]
