Okay Alan, I'll come out of retirement for you . . .
Does Alan Pardew need another Argie? Perhaps someone with the hands of God? AC and I are beyond laughing at the state of West Ham, so much that we had to ruefully shake our heads when Pardew was bemoaning his team's performance after their humiliating loss to Chesterfield in the Carling Cup. Eight losses in a row? Pardew's post-match interview seemed to place the impetus on his squad, and why not? David Ornstein tells us why. [Guardian]
Whaddya know, Liverpool can win a game, and are we seeing the run of Reading come to an end? I guess it would be a big deal if the Carling Cup mattered. Is it me, or is all the talk of Benitez rotating his players (for the 98th consecutive time) getting a bit old, especially considering how we all seem to forget a few pieces of silver at Anfield under his tenure, namely the European and FA Cups? [Times Online, Eat Football]
In other League Cup news, Manchester United squeak through with some help from a teenager, while Chelsea welcome back our favorite elfin winger as they beat Blackburn Rovers, and Newcastle have finally found a competition in which they can shine, with Man U's teen phenom from last year. I'm not even a Liverpool fan, and this constant rotation talk is irritating me.
When Real Madrid's Galacticos were struggling everyone said it was because they couldn't rotate. And now from Barcelona to Liverpool rotation is suddenly the origin of all evil? Insane.
