Who Did Fat Tony Have His Money On?

I'm not sure which team Springfield's mob boss supports, but whoa nellie. Palermo solidified their place at the top of Serie A after a 5-3 win at home today over Catania. With five different Palermo players scoring, Alan Pardew will have his hands full next Thursday when the Rosanero host West Ham in their UEFA Cup first round second-leg match.

It looks like the Hammers will be hard pressed to keep a lid on the attack minded play instituted by Palermo coach Francesco Guidolin. The Sicilian team, one of three from the famous region in Serie A this season, couldn'’t have gotten off to a better start. Three straight victories domestically and one in the UEFA Cup. The team now leads in Italy by two points ahead of local rival Messina and Inter.

Next for Palermo is an away game at Empoli on Sunday. Catania host another Sicilian derby match Saturday against Messina while Inter host Chievo on Sunday. Who said the it wouldn't be exciting in Italy this year?
