Things Get Cozy In Spain

In the big La Liga game of the day, Barcelona and Valencia played to a one goal draw at the Camp Nou. Coming into the match as joint-leaders in Spain, both coaches should be satisfied with the result. Though I feel that Frank Rijkaard will be a little miffed that Barca's dominance in number of shots and time of possession didn't bag the three points.

And that takes us to what looks to have been the most exciting game of the day. Argie Maxi Rodriguez scored twice late to win a match that saw two Sevilla players sent off in a span of twenty minutes. Tough game for Sevilla not to get at least a point, especially with how they were able to defend their one goal advantage so late into the match.

Regardless, the draw in Barcelona saw Sevilla only lose one point to leaders Barca and Valencia. The big winner this weekend was Real Madrid and Atletico, Real joining the leaders on ten points and Atletico bunking up with Sevilla on nine points. That sets up the match to watch next week, the Madrid derby at the Bernabeu next Sunday. Without a doubt, this will be one fiery encounter.
