Sicily's Golden Boys Get Derailed

Palermo was shut out today by Empoli after coming into the match unbeaten and at the top of the table. The Rosanero now have four days to get their minds right for Thursday's match against West Ham. You can be sure that the Hammers will come into the game looking for a positive result after stuttering since the arrival of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

Elsewhere in Serie A, Inter held on against Chievo while Roma bounced back from their midweek loss by opening a can of whup ass on Parma. While Inter will be happy that Crespo is in-form, they should be a little worried about giving up three goals with Bayern Munich coming to town on Wednesday. The form that Roma is on sets up a tasty encounter in Valencia, also on Wednesday.

On a side note, Italian papers are busy fanning the flames of a touchline "spat" between Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti and Clarence Seedorf during yesterday's 0-0 draw against Livorno. It'll be interesting to see if the Dutchman comes down with an "injury" and can't play against Lille on Tuesday.

Today's results leave Inter alone at the top of the table with ten points. Roma and Palermo are on nine while Empoli and Messina are a point further back. After Milan's draw, they have two points and are eight back of their cross city rivals. Next week's best match looks to like Sunday's Roma versus Empoli clash.
