. . . and Northern Ireland own Spain

Further proof that so many of these early Euro qualifying games are a tremendous waste of time, Northern Ireland came from behind twice to upend the ever-underacheiving Spaniards with a hat trick from David Healey at Windsor Park.

The much-maligned (in the press) Lawrie Sanchez should be smiling smugly, as are Germany in their 13-0 rout of San Marino.

Is anyone else as disinterested as I am with some of these games? The Italy-France match is perhaps the most compelling of this qualifying stage, but other than a handful of games, it's simply too much meaningless football. Let the minnows qualify amongst themselves and give the big teams byes.

Honestly, do we really need to hear the doom and gloom surrounding the English team over a less-than-convincing victory over Macedonia and a goalfest against Andorra? I guess 6-0-6 and fan forums need the fodder, just like we do.
