The Grab: 07.23

Calvin Klein underwear model and sometime Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg has made the jump to West Ham, despite interest from Fiorentina in the past week. The Swedish captain will move for a reported fee of potentially $6M, much less than the fee that was being talked about with the Italian club. Apparently, Fiorentina had problems with meeting the player's current wages, about $140,000/week. While Ljungberg is using the "lack of quality players coming in" argument, so utilized by Thierry Henry and William Gallas, is this anything more than a player nearing the end of his career, wishing he can play more and maintain his income? Beckswatch: Despite braving a short but long-awaited debut for the AYSO team that is the LA Galaxy (in a friendly, no less), Goldenballs and Co. were able to focus on what it's really all about. While I have given DB some props for maintaining sincerity, one has to wonder how were D and V Beckham able to amass so many asshat friends so quickly? Nice work Simon Fuller. [Daily Mail]

New Newcastle signing, part-time pugilist and full-time asshole Joey Barton has been ruled out for six weeks after fracturing a metatarsal in his left foot. The injury took place in a friendly match with Carlisle (1-1, in case you were wondering). No word on whether the midfielder injured his foot sticking by it in his mouth or trying to spit it out.
