The Grab: 01.31

Will Liverpool ever get their new stadium? With DIC pulling out (of the deal, that is) and George Gillett Jr. stepping in, Liverpool's desire for a new 60,000 seat venue may be up in the air. Word on the net is that GG Jr. offered roughly $1000 more per share (roughly $30M more in total) than the Dubai International Capital. [Forbes]

Thankfully, despite all the uncertainty surrounding Anfield, Rafa Benetiz is able to add yet another international to his midfield. FIFA has allowed Javier Mascherano to play for the Reds, despite playing for two teams. After his move with Carlos Tevez from Corinthians, the Argentine international played for West Ham, if you can call it that. Now if they can just find that paperwork . . . [Anfield Road]

Another aging member of Hearts makes the move to Celtic, as Vladimir Romanov looks to be cleaning house at Tynecastle. First Elvis, and now Paul Hartley head to the SPL leaders. Romanov's meddling with the squad, going so far as to select the team for matches has all but made the minor success that came with his arrival a distant memory. [Soccer365]

Thanks Jens: Bobby Pires tells us how much it hurt to leave Arsenal, presumably less than it hurt to tear ligaments in his knee. [The Sun]
