Thank god for celebrity columns. Kevin Nolan demonstrated, much to my surprise, that he doesn't read any newspapers and he loves the game of football. Such insight! Let's hope the Queen's favorite Canuck does a little bit better. Actually, I just took a moment to read it and it may as well be a Dr. Seuss book, given the amount of "I" statements, perhaps ghostwritten by the challenged kid that lives next door. [BBC Sport]
With Real Madrid in a bit of crisis mode (when haven't they been there in the last four years?), all eyes are on the English savior of football, the handsome and once-wickedly-talented David Beckham. Well, it has been a few years since he was a player of any worth (I'm talking Man Utd. days), but who says he can't be the player Luis Figo is at Inter? Pop the old man in every other week or so and he's usually good for something. Then again, Becks has always been more one-dimensional than Figo ever was in his prime. Thankfully, he has his pretty face and, er, original style to fall back on. [Times Online, Think Fashion]
What's it take to get a run-outat Emirates Stadium if you're an up-and-coming young gun? Well, staying in the League Cup competition helps, but it is interesting to think that Cesc Fabregas has been playing for more than three years for the Gunners and he's only 19. Time to take a lesson, lads. [Guardian Sport Blog]
