. . . Pants On Fire

That's what Italian referee Stefano Farina was saying to Pavel Nedved yesterday. After the Czech midfielder called Farina's account of Nedved's sending off a lie, the ref came out publicly to stand by his match report. The moneyquote:
"I will not take it back because I confirm everything I said. I repeat what I wrote in my report. I only pointed out faithfully what happened on the field of play."
From what I've been able to see, it's tough to make a call one way or the other. YouTube has a couple of camera angles, but because of the graininess, it's hard to tell how severe the foul really was (see here and here). But if you want to see Nedved hurl insults at the Genoa player and the ref, that's pretty plain to see in the second video.

If he carries out his threat and retires, then by golly, let him. Isn't the world a little tired of the Bianconeri complaining about "raw deals" by now? [Channel 4, YouTube]

In other Juve news:
  • Prognosis for Saturday: Alex back in, Trez still out. [Juventus official site]
  • Mauro Camoranesi interview commemorating is arrival in Italy. I'm sure most people out there know his origins, but who knew that of the 114 club appearances he made before going to Verona in 2000, only 38 of those where in Argentina's Primera? [Juventus official site]
  • On-loan Fabrizio Miccoli wants to stay at Benfica for at least the remainder of the season. If you saw how unhappy he was about the Lisbon outfit's performance yesterday, as well as being substituted, I wonder how long those good feelings might last. Reports out of Germany say that VfL Wolfsburg might be interested. [Channel 4]
  • I really don't know what to say about this. Having one of the most irritating songs ever produced as it's soundtrack didn't keep me from noticing Luciano Moggi pushing around a wheelbarrow. [The Offside]
