After Macri Turns The Screws, Gago Says Enough

At an impasse over the transfer of Fernando Gago, Boca Junoirs president Mauricio Macri went public with his intentions of offering his midfielder to Atheltico Madrid, Barcelona, and AC Milan. Not very sly, but nonetheless, a negotiating hand played.

The next move was made by Gago, giving up his 15% cut of the transfer fee. According to both Spanish and Argentine sources, the Boca player gave up his slice of the pie hoping to push the talks along. It seems that the deal is close to done and that Gago will be a Real Madrid player tomorrow. The reports are that the final dollar amount will be $24.4M, with the player signing a contract tying him to the club until 2013.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens next.
