Palacio's Brace Takes Boca Four Points Clear

Rodrigo Palacio is a natural born killer in front of the net. He carried Boca Juniors today in the second half of their suspended match against Gimnasia de La Plata. Boca had come into today's second 45 minutes trailing by one goal and needed the result to stay ahead of River Plate and Estudiantes de La Plata. Martin Palermo came back from his injury layoff to score as well.

The win sees Boca go up by four points at the top of the table with only five matches left to play in the Apertura Championship. In those five, Ricardo La Volpe's team won't face a team higher than tenth in the standings. While there's always the chance of a slip-up, Boca's got to love the position their in. They host last-place Quilmes on Sunday. [Ole, TyC Sports]

  • River's Franco-Argentino striker is on Raymond Domenech's list of 50 players for the upcoming friendly against Greece. How many of those fifty do you think are on Arsenal's squad? Domenech just seems to want to piss off as many club managers as possible these days. [Eurosport]

  • The Estudiantes v. River match has been moved from Sunday to Saturday night, 7pm ET. It'll be shown live on TyC Sports USA. This should be a great game, both teams are in good form and can't afford anything less than three points to stay within touching distance of Boca.
