I Scored As Many As Trez Today

Without any help from David Trezeguet, Juventus won at home against lowly Pescara to move to within two points of league leaders Piacenza. The Czech Republic's best head of hair scored a brace to move Juve ever closer to Serie B domination. A frustrating day for the Frenchman, Trez missed a hatful of chances throughout the game. Following the victory, coach Didier Deschamps had this to say about his striker:
"As far as Trezeguet is concerned, he was without a doubt unlucky and let's not forget he's just got over a muscular problem. He did some good things out there, albeit with a few mistakes, but whether you score or not depends on the service you get and the passes he got today weren'’t all dead on."
I guess everyone has an off day. Worse news was the first half departure of Alessandro Del Piero, apparently due to a thigh problem. His condition will be assessed on Monday. Juve travel to the Lombardy region next Saturday to take on mid-table Albinoleffe. [Juventus official site]

In a bit of interesting news concerning the Italian national team, Francesco Totti has again ignored Roberto Donadoni's sweet kisses and will not play in Italy's friendly against Turkey on Wednesday. He propelled Roma to their first win at the San Siro since 1986 this afternoon, seeing a potential hat-trick spill off of Dida's right hand post.

Totti's been red hot this season, both in Italy as well as in the Champions League. His refusal to even broach the subject of returning to the Azzurri with reporters after today's match begs the question: If he's not ready to return now, when he's on form and looking healthy and fit, will he ever play for Italy again?
