Alex On Target, Again

Juventus' slog up the Serie B table hit a bump in the road last night after they came away with a draw on the road to Napoli. Diego Maradona's old outfit put a halt to Juve's eight game winning streak, leaving Didier Deschamps team in a tie for fourth place on 17 points. They trail league leaders Genoa by three, giving credence to the idea that Juve will not only win promotion to Serie A, they'll probably secure the second division championship sometime in March.

In other Juve news:
  • I wouldn't call it an injury crisis, but the Bianconeri are going to have to play with a patchwork defense on Saturday. Nicola Legrottaglie will be out for at least six weeks while Jean Alain Boumsong could get a place on the bench after recovering from a thigh injury. [Juventus official site]

  • Dino Zoff, captain of his country's 1982 world champion side, and his wife were mugged on Sunday night. He also took a kick in the face but declined to go to the hospital. The former Juve keeper played for the club from 1972 to 1983. He coached the team for two seasons (1988-1990), before getting unceremoniously sacked after winning two cups (Italian, UEFA) in 1990. • Pietro Rava, the last remaining member of the 1938 World Cup winning Italian side, passed away Sunday at the age of 90. Rava played for Juve between 1935 and 1950, twice winning the Coppa Italia (1938 and 1942) and taking home the 1949/50 scudetto. He captained the side from 1947 to 1950, and also won the gold medal at the 1936 Olympics. [CNN]
