Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli told the press yesterday that "We can expect a substantial reduction of the penalty." He was commenting after the club went before an independent arbitration board set up by the Italian Olympic Committee to rule on the point deductions incurred by Juve, Milan, Lazio, and Fiorentina. All reports out of Italy are that the board's ruling will be made by the end of the month. [CNN]
In other Juve news:
Gianluca Pessotto's wife has come out publicly with the news that her husband wasn't trying to commit suicide. Why she took so long to come out and say this, I don't know. The article mentions Pessotto visiting the club for the first time, here's the club's blurb on that. [Sporting News and Juventus official site]
I don't know enough about the Italian game to comment about this being good or bad for the club, or Serie A for that matter. Hey, if Russian billionares can buy up English and German teams, why not a Libyan with a little cash to spare? The guy sure has been around though. [Middle East Times and Wikipedia]
As one of Juve's most popular players states that he wants to play until he is 40, a former fan favorite is getting a warm invitation to come back to Serie B. [Channel 4]

We here at the Soccer Mad in America home office have had a little problem getting our posts out the last couple of days. Everything seems in order now, so expect to see our buffonery on a more consistent basis, at least to the levels exhibited before our unintentional black out. Thanks to everybody who makes this blog a regular stop when they surf the web.
