Sorry Kid, Maybe Next Year

This is the look of someone who has just cost their club $130M. Well, that's not very fair, Thomas Vermaelen didn't singlehandedly cost Ajax a shot at millions of dollars. Then again, he didn't help matters either by turning FC Copenhagen's William Qvist Jorgensen's cross into his own net. Oh yeah, that goal was the decider as the Danish side secured it's ticket to the lucrative UEFA Champions League group stage. So I guess Ajax fans could blame him after all. Maybe Amsterdam business owners won't be very happy with him either after finding out that the city of Liverpool received somewhere in the region of $89M after beating Milan in the 2005 final.

Sucks to be Thomas Vermaelen right now.
